MISSION The mission of the Providence Christian Academy library media centers is two-fold: 1. to encourage and guide our students to become life-long learners and readers; and 2. to provide resources that enable our faculty to accomplish the school’s mission of providing “excellence in Christ-centered education as an extension of the Christian home”. The library media centers are designed to ensure that students and staff are effective users of resources and information. Our library media centers are places where students can build twenty-first century literacy skills. These include reading effectively for information as well as enjoyment, using computers and other media to locate information, and learning how to evaluate and use information to communicate.
ONLINE RESOURCES The PCA Library Media wiki gives access (on campus and at home) to the many online subscription databases including Galileo (Georgia Library Learning Online). The wiki address is http://pcalibrarymedia.wikispaces.com. Passwords for home access are available from the library media staff and this password protected site under Community>Classroom Pages.
ONSITE RESOURCES The combined elementary and high school collections include over 21,000 books, 2000 DVDs, videotapes and other audio-visual items as well as access to a number of online database subscriptions. The library media centers subscribe to over 50 magazines and receive the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Gwinnett Daily Post and the USA Today newspapers. The automated catalog is available from every computer on our campus.
